BACKGROUND:

Virtu Cosmetic is a MedTech platform operating at the intersection of artificial intelligence and aesthetic medicine. The company serves two key audiences: cosmetic surgery clinics and practitioners who need a clinical-grade consultation tool, and prospective patients who want a personalized preview of potential surgical results before committing to a procedure. Their platform targets the global cosmetic surgery industry, valued at over $72 billion, across procedures ranging from facial contouring and breast augmentation to body sculpting and hand rejuvenation.

THE CHALLENGE

Before building their mobile platform, Virtu Cosmetic's pre-surgery consultation process was riddled with inefficiencies. Clinics relied on generic before-and-after photo galleries that rarely matched an individual patient's anatomy or desired outcome  leaving patients uncertain about what their own results might look like. Medical photography was inconsistent, with each clinic following its own ad-hoc process, and patient-to-clinic communication was fragmented, requiring in-person visits before any visual assessment could begin. The few digital tools available were desktop-bound, offering no mobile convenience for patients or on-the-go practitioners. The entire pre-consultation pipeline was manual, time-consuming, and prone to error.

The Solution

Greenstone Media built a cross-platform mobile application using React Native 0.78  running natively
on iOS and Android from a single TypeScript codebase with the Hermes engine for optimized performance.

  1. Guided Multi-Angle Capture

Guided Multi-Angle Photo Capture  an in-app camera walks users through front, left, and right profile shots with a dotted alignment overlay, enforcing clinical-grade framing standards for all four procedure categories (Face, Breast, Abdomen, Hand).

2. AI Visualization Engine

AI-Driven Before/After Visualization captured images are securely sent to the Virtu Cosmetic AI engine via REST API, which returns matched before-and-after image pairs displayed as a side-by-side comparison inside the app.

3. Photo Standards Compliance

Photographic Standards Compliance System  per-procedure standards charts covering dimensions, camera distance, patient positioning, and framing specifications, ensuring every image meets clinical documentation requirements.

4. Structured Data Collection

Structured Patient Data Collection  real-time validated forms collecting personal and health details, with unit conversion support and a custom date picker.

5. Direct Clinic Sharing

Send to Clinic Feature  patients can share their AI-generated visualization directly with their practitioner from inside the app.

6. Clean Scalable Architecture

Clean Architecture  organized into data, domain, presentation, config, and utils layers for testability, maintainability, and future-readiness.
