BACKGROUND

Fresh Seafood Dining for Shamin Hotels

Hilton's Virginia Beach location offers spectacular views and the freshest seafood around. Located on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk, Catch 31 boasts an amazing oyster bar, and a delicious menu of grilled fish, succulent steaks, and decadent desserts.

THE PROBLEM:

All three Virginia Beach restaurant sites were built differently and used a hodge-podge of 3rd party integrations, some of which were no longer maintained. This was not a sustainable way to manage multiple websites.

Challenges & Objectives

Out-of-date website platform & plugins

Basic content updates were difficult & time-consuming

A better way to make regular updates (like announcements & seasonal menus)

Consolidation of 3rd party integrations for easier management

THE SOLUTION:

A strategy session helped to determine what elements of the current sites needed to be removed, and how to improve user experience for each of them. It wasn't easy to make updates for any of the sites, so we put the systems in place to fix that.

WordPress Platform & Plugins

All three sites were re-developed on a fresh WordPress platform (one of the most widely used CMS platforms)

Plugins were updated to improve site performance and security

Unneeded plugins were removed to lighten the load and make the site easier to maintain on the back-end

3rd party integrations were consolidated or removed so there would be fewer accounts to manage and payments to keep up with

Drag-and-Drop Front End Editing

Site managers no longer have to edit code to make content and design changes to each page
Editing is quick and easy with the drag-and-drop visual editor
Saved rows and templates allow for efficient page building
Changes are seen as they are done, without having to open the page in a new window to preview before publishing

THE RESULTS:

Website managers now have less to juggle, and can make updates more efficiently. A frictionless user experience for anyone visiting the website increases the chance of gaining new customers and delights current customers.
