We believe you shouldn’t destroy that which does not belong to you. And the Earth does not belong to us. Although we do not “own” the planet, we are more then just inhabitants, as we can physically alter our habitat and change the paradigm with which we live on this planet. That would indicate a far more important role for humans on this planet. A role that demands responsibility, accountability and sustainability. We are stewards of this earth. With this in mind, we can begin to centralize many of our decisions and make a difference in climate change.
Carbon Offsets
We used a carbon calculator to determine our commuting, electricity, and recycling costs. After quantifying these costs, we have donated carbon offsets to the The Nature Conservancy to offset these costs.
“Thank you, Greenstone Media! Your contribution to The Nature Conservancy’s voluntary carbon offset program will help fund projects that produce measurable reductions in greenhouse gasses, help stem the tide of climate change, and protect habitats for people and nature. We’re excited you’re part of the nature.org online community.”
Additional eco-friendly practices
In addition to offsetting our carbon emissions, we also:
- Donate our time to local non-profits that are working for a sustainable future.
- Work with hosting partners that use wind energy for powering their servers.
- Maintain 99% of all documents digitally
- Utilize paperless billing
We will continue to do what we can to reduce our environmental impact. In the meantime, we encourage you to do the same! Here are some ways to reduce your carbon footprint.
